Poem 9/28 DAEW

a hand within my own
wrapped tightly
guided by a sweetness
cautioned by all those that have come before.
a certain kind of danger
an inevitable betrayal
in the near future
for now we are innocent strangers
who know no secrets
no boundaries laid down
your facial features foreign
the curves of your body not yet explored
it is not you that I want
but a feeling
a desire to be free and alive
loved and wanted
a poison so potent
we cannot help but want to run
a poison so infectious
it just takes a presence, a look,
your eyes to meet mine
we are all weak
seeking out our purpose yet not creating it.
My feet are planted one in front of the other
I am walking forward
Yet I am beginning to fly
There is something so mysterious yet comforting
about the look in your eye.
You are a stranger
But not for long
Our lives will cross paths
And dance for a while
you will put air in my lungs
and electrify my rhythm.
A power of choice
To step forward into the new
or to chain the red beat to slow it down
there is darkness,
you are surrounded by light
The man about town.

Shake the Dust

This is for you.
