give yourself a voice
When we stop believing in everything that others tell us to believe in and start believing in something constructed by our own reality through the principles and morals we hold within our core being. It is there that we construct new ideas about the world around us. Negativity is contagious and we must combat it with positivity. We must look for and expect the good in people to shine through. It is there that we teach one another how to love, feel, and simply just be. In doing so we set ourselves free.
"Whoever you are: step out of doors tonight, Out of the room that lets you feel secure. Infinity is open to your sight. Whoever you are. With eyes that have forgotten how to see From viewing things already too well-known, Lift up into the dark a huge, black tree And put it in the heavens: tall, alone. And you have made the world and all you see. It ripens like the words still in your mouth. And when at last you comprehend its truth, Then close your eyes and gently set it free." Entrance Dana Gioia

James Vincent McMorrow - We Don't Eat
so beautiful... I hope you all are having a wonderful day.
Live the life you want to live. Work hard and surround yourself with people that are good for you. Never be afraid to walk away. Always do the right thing no matter how hard. It comes back around... pay it forward.

Brene Brown: The power of vulnerability
THE WHOLE HEARTED
This video is great... if you are in the mood to think... then watch and get lost in thought.
Notes on Brown's Points:
in common- courage- latin word "cor" meaning heart- original definition tell who you are with all your heart.
compassion to be kind to themselves first then compassion for others
"willing to let go of who they thought they should be in order to be who the are" leading to connection
fully embrace vulnerability- talked about how it is necessary
Ex: say I love you first, no guarantees, invest in a relationship that may or may not work out
Vulnerability the birth place of :
joy. creativity. belonging. love.
When we numb the negative feelings we then numb the good ones. A dangerous cycle where we can't accept our vulnerability.

Thoughts/ understanding
We often get trapped by the way we learn about other people. I feel like subconsciously
it turns into a competition
, we compare and contrast the differences and search for the parallels that fit into our social norms. The act of feeling good enough for someone starts by looking at their situation and then comparing it to your own. Then we use these comparisons to rationalize why things aren’t working out or how they might work out.
When in reality, in a ideal world we would just look at the person. They are either good or bad, work well or don’t. Instead we allow this clutter of information that ends up making the decision for us about the value of other people.
Stop. Think. Be Open.
You will meet a whirl wind of people. Colorful people that will bring something different to your life. They will leave a different kind of foot print a different kind of hand print and their music will play in your memory a little differently each time.
I'de Rather Go Blind ~ Etta James

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My shoes have fallen from my feet
A heavy head laid done to weep
I am not me, I will not sleep.
For there is a time to chase,
To think, to love, to erase.
There are hardships I cannot face.
A need, a soulful longing for your love
The petals have fallen
The leaves are changing in the night
I want the beauty to shine through
A dancing duo
One and two
Left with the words you have said
The records broken
A continuum of soft loud
no, no, no, playing in my head.
Drunken hearts
Soon depart
A inevitable betrayal of innocence now lost
You are all I ever wanted
But it came as such a cost.
If I am whole, I feel broken
If I am strong, there is a crack in my foundation
My head wrapped up within itself
A smile, a wink, a life out of sync.
My shoes have fallen from my feet
A heavy head laid done to weep
I am not me, I will not sleep.
Beauty in moments
A few captured moments from the semester. The school year is coming to an end and I have never felt more at PEACE.
